Camino Frances – Day 13 – Hornillos del Camino

Burgos to Hornillos del Camino

Starting in Burgos, the Camino Frances route to Hornillos del Camino spans approximately 13.3 miles (21.4 kilometers). This segment marks the beginning of the Meseta, a vast plateau that characterizes the landscape ahead. Beginning at an altitude of 2,838 feet (865 meters) and descending to 2,710 feet (826 meters) by the journey’s end, pilgrims pass through the charming villages of Tardajos and Rabe de las Calzadas. These rural Spanish villages offer rest and refreshments, providing a glimpse into local life.

Hornillos del Camino

Hornillos del Camino

In Hornillos del Camino, a small town boasting just five hostels and hotels, there are approximately 100 beds available. During peak seasons, it’s highly recommended to secure accommodation in advance or arrive promptly at the municipal hostel. Half of the beds in the municipal hostel are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, making it essential to be among the early arrivals to secure lodging. With limited options and high demand, planning ahead ensures a comfortable stay in this charming town along the Camino.
