The walk out of Le Puy is uphill and only after approx 20km do you enter a place where there is @ and food. This is the town of Saint-Privat-d’Allier:


I only have 200 Euro left for the journey until St. Jean Pied de Port, but the inner-gourmand in me decided to blow a quarter of my remaining budget at La Vieille Auberge restaurant. I wasn’t disappointed. I began my meal with Escargot:


The meal progressed to a local speciality. Petit sale aux lentills vertes du Puy:


As a follow-up I chose Assiette de fromages secs de la region:


My desert was a spectacular, local speciality: Creme Brûlée Verveine:


Time to continue my journey: a quarter out-of-pocket lighter, but stomach and soul full of some of the best cuisine which this region has to offer 🙂
